Winter break photography course for young people, 11.02.−13.02.26 This workshop with trained educator and photographer Helena Kalleitner offers a comprehensive introduction to photography, teaching basic knowledge, tools, and creative strategies. Starting with a brief journey through the history of photography and moving on to image composition, the workshop also addresses the (critical) viewing and interpretation of images. Through practical exercises with cameras and smartphones, inspired by examples from art and pop culture as well as a variety of methodological approaches, participants are encouraged to develop a reflective and empowering approach to images.

Basics of Digital Image Editing − Introduction to Affinity, March 26
Digital image editing opens up new ways to design and refine images. If you want to edit images professionally, you need more than just creative ideas—you also need the right tools. In this introductory workshop on the basics of digital image editing with Affinity Photo, participants will learn how to use the program interface, work with layers, basic image editing techniques, and the use of tools for retouching and color correction. The course is aimed at beginners who are looking for a practical introduction to image editing. Affinity is professional graphics and image editing software that has established itself as a powerful alternative to commercial programs. It has been available free of charge since October 2025 and offers comprehensive tools for photo editing and design.

Year-long Workshop 2026, March−November 26
The aim of this workshop for artistic photography is to impart specialist photographic knowledge and to accompany and support participants’ long-term photo projects. The topics can be chosen freely. The three workshop leaders will offer suggestions and learning opportunities from the areas that they themselves are pursuing. At the beginning of the workshop, Nadine Weixler will search for project ideas together with the participants and teach various artistic methods for implementation. Herman Seidl will explain methods for developing and implementing a photo project, from the initial research to the presentation. Andrew Phelps concludes with a focus on the compilation of image sequences and editing of image sequences for exhibitions or publications and the preparation for the final presentation.

Basics Digital Photography, 24.−25.04.26
This popular basic course teaches the most important aspects of photographic image composition and basic technical knowledge of digital photography. The focus is on training your personal eye through your own photo exercises and getting to know your camera, its functions, and settings. Using selected examples from famous photographers in the photographic art scene, we teach important basic knowledge about image composition. Portraits (individual portraits, two or more people, groups of people) are the focus of the joint photography exercises. Participants also take photos with their cameras on topics such as light and shadow, perspective, image cropping, foreground/background, and movement. The photos are then analyzed, evaluated, and printed out together. Indoor and outdoor shots teach technical and creative basics. Basic knowledge of image management and image editing with software tips round off this basic course.
