Book Presentation Simon Baptist »From Up in the Valley« 16.12.25, 6 pm
A conversation between photo historian Christina Natlacen and artist Simon Baptist about the book »Von oben im Tal. Archiv Franz Göttfried«, published by FOTOHOF>EDITION.
In »From Up in the Valley«, the farmer Franz Göttfried (1903–1980) begins to photograph the people of St. Lambrecht. Between the 1920s and the early 1940s, he portrayed them on festive occasions, at work, and in everyday situations.
Preserved on around 500 glass negatives in the 9×12 cm format, these remarkable images survived in the attic of his family home in Upper Styria. Together with the FOTOHOF>ARCHIVE, Simon Baptist is securing this photographic estate and is now developing it into an independent archive.

This event takes place in Vienna:
Photoinstitut Bonartes, Seilerstätte 22, 1010 Vienna
